1. GOT7 – iGOT7 vs Aghase
This difference happens to be already popular in the K-Pop world. When the official fandom name of global boy group GOT7 is iGOT7, all the members, and fans alike, have known the fandom name to be ‘Aghase’. A shortened slightly Koreanized version of the fandom just rolls smoother on the tongue, doesn’t it?
2. MOMOLAND – Merry-Go-Round vs Merry
MOMOLAND have been around for six years now and have garnered a considerable number of fans. ‘Merry-Go-Round’ may be official fandom name, but hardly have fans ever heard the members of this talented girl group use this name. A cuter, shorter version like ‘Merry’ can give fans happiness just saying it. Seems the members made a beautiful choice, no?
3. (G)I-DLE – Neverland vs Nevie
This shortened form isn’t always used by the group though. On some occasions, they stick to the original fandom name ‘Neverland’, but there are more less official instances where the members resort to the shortened version. All fans know for a fact is that both ‘Neverland’ and ‘Nevie’ are more than cute.
4. THE BOYZ – The B vs Deobi
The original form and the shortened form of this talented boy group aren’t as different as some K-Pop fans may think. While THE B is the official name, the members being mostly Korean pronounce the name as ‘Deobi’. This is practically a Koreanized pronunciation of the fandom name, and of course, all the fans of the group use it too.
5. NCT – NCTzen vs Czennie
A rather popular fandom in the K-Pop world is NCTzens. Some newer fans may be confused while watching lives and seeing the members call the fandom ‘Czennie’. The members have called the fandom this shortened version for a long time. It’s impactful and just like them— a happiness inducer.
6. TREASURE – Treasure Maker vs Teume
Fans of this super boy group make it a norm to call each other fellow Teumes, just as the members do. The official group name may be apt, but members of the group and fans have long rolled with the shorter version. ‘Teume’ being the abbreviation of the Koreanized pronunciation of ‘Treasure’ and ‘Maker’ leaves a better impact, and of course, is much simpler to call out.
7. Red Velvet – ReVeluv vs Luvies
It’s the cutest thing when Red Velvet members all call their fans as ‘Luvies’. Coined from the official fandom name ReVeluv, hearing the term makes the group’s fans feel loved. It’s such a beautiful name for a beautiful set of fans, and being called ‘Luvies’ by members is nothing less than appropriate.
