The first half of the year has already given us an influx of spectacular dramas that have tugged on our heartstrings, helped us to reminisce on our youth, and made each day a little bit more enjoyable. One such drama is “Our Blues” which is currently available to stream on Netflix. While it boasts a star-studded cast, each deserving of a post of their own, one actor stands out in particular: that is none other than Kim WooBin. Kim WooBin made a name for himself through his roles in “School 2013”, “The Heirs”, and “Uncontrollably Fond”, just to name a few. However, back in 2017, he was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer and has since been on hiatus to focus on his health. Now, Kim WooBin has made a healthy comeback through the role of Park JungJoon and his fans couldn’t be happier. Throughout the series so far, Kim WooBin has shown that his acting is still top-notch, proving why he was invited to join such a star-studded lineup. With that being said, here are a few of our favorite scenes of Kim WooBin from “Our Blues”.
1. Park JungJoon in the morning
After the opening credits and title screen, we begin with Park JungJoon’s morning routine. There is nothing grandiose about it nor is it anywhere near action-packed—just a man turning on the lights and brushing his teeth. What makes it special is the fact that it’s Kim WooBin’s comeback to the small screen. Seeing him in the first few seconds of the very first episode makes us, as fans, excited for what comes next.
2. Protecting Lee YongOk from Captain Bae
Have you ever had someone continuously bother you, despite rejecting them multiple times? That’s exactly what happens to Lee YongOk (Han JiMin) as she tries to play off multiple romantic advances from a drunken Captain Bae (Yoon ByungHee). Cue JungJoon, who so happened to make his way to YongOk’s house and immediately comes to her rescue. Even after YongOk makes her way inside, JungJoon continues to stand at the gate like a guard dog, preventing Captain Bae from going any further. If it wasn’t clear that JungJoon is interested in YongOk before, it was definitely made clear now after this scene.
3. JungJoon confesses to YongOk
You could really feel the tension here, as JungJoon stares at YongOk longingly throughout the entirety of it. After some buildup, JungJoon pops the question: “Will you go out with me?” Cue the butterflies and squeals of enjoyment. Confession aside, this scene was also sweet and heartwarming, as you could really feel JungJoon’s sincerity towards YongOk, despite all the rumors he’s heard about her. He shows that, although he is cautious, he is still sure of his feelings and that’s enough to start a romantic relationship with YongOk.
4. Calm Captain JungJoon
Not many people can keep their cool when someone goes missing—especially if it’s someone you like. But I guess you can if your name is Park JungJoon. After discovering that YongOk had yet to resurface from that morning’s dive, JungJoon, along with the rest of the group, did all they could to make sure she was safe. That included yelling her name, calling for her to resurface, looking for her buoy, even sounding an alarm and alerting the coast guard that a hanyeo had gone missing. Of course, later on we learn that YongOk was safe, but as JungJoon did his duties as captain, it really showed just how dependable he can be in emergency situations.
5. Moments with YongOk
This might not be one singular moment, but there are just too many to choose from! It’s comforting to see how their relationship develops from being cautious around each other to becoming sweet lovers. From exchanged gazes to the way they talk with each other, you can really feel the chemistry between the two and that at all times, sparks are flying.
