What if, on top of it all, they are also super rich? Like a young CEO of a company? Well, K-Dramas have provided us a plenty of those too and we can’t stop swooning over them! These characters have a charm unmatchable to any other. They are ambitious young men, whose main goal is the company’s success. They are often confident and risk takers, with many share holders trying to take them down, they always have a way out. Who doesn’t like a charismatic man in place of power? And to add as a bonus, they are in fine suits and a posh and clean look. All that does make them swoon worthy, but nothing matches their love for the female lead. They are men with the world behind them, but they are willing to put themselves on their knees for the one they love. Even though such tropes are often cliché and predictable, we cannot get enough of them! Kpopmap has chosen top most favorite CEOs from K-Drama land who were madly in love and so are we. These include Lee YoungJun (Park SeoJun), Kang TaeMo (Ahn HyoSeop), Min Hyuk (Park HyungSik) and Kim MinKyu (Yoo SeungHo).
1. Lee YoungJun From “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?”
While “What Is Wrong With Secretary Kim?” is about Secretary Kim MiSo (played by Park MinYoung), who abruptly announces her resignation from her boss Lee YoungJoon (Park SeoJun), it is then he realizes how much he needs her. Lee YoungJun is the Vice President of the company but he holds the utmost authority. He is a devoted young man who has already brought success to the company. YoungJun has it all and he is well aware of it. He often brags about his success and looks, to the point that he will fall in love with his own reflection. And we all know about the ‘Aura’ he holds! Despite all that, his world shatters when Secretary Kim announces her resignation. He does everything in his will to stop her from leaving. He would come up to her house often to convince her to take the resignation back and even propose her for marriage. Though in the beginning it all seems absurd, we later get to know that he was in love with her all along, as the two had met before in their childhood. Both of them were abducted by the same lady but YoungJun was held captive for a long time whilst MiSo went missing for a night. MiSo had no memory of the incident nor was her family aware of it. But YoungJun suffered from the trauma. He was afraid of a woman’s touch but he slowly got over it with MiSo. YoungJun raises expectation for fans when it comes to finding the right man. He will take professional pictures for you, would cover you from the rain with his jacket and cherish you forever, what more would one want?
2. Kang TaeMoo From “Business Proposal”
“Business Proposal” tells the story of Shin HaRi (Kim SeJeong), who goes on behalf of her friend, Jin YoungSeo (Seol InA), on a blind date. The goal being to scare him off, but her blind date is no one else but Kang TaeMoo (Ahn HyoSeop), the CEO of her company. Things and feelings go out of hand when Kang TaeMoo proposes to her to be his pretentious girlfriend to satisfy his grandfather. Ahn HyoSeop plays the role of a young CEO who just took the position, but that does not make him any less competent. He has a cold exterior and is not interested in relationships, since his prime goal is to focus on the company. TaeMoo is also extremely creative and has brought many unique and successful ideas into front. In episode 1, Kang TaeMoo speaks about himself about how young and successful he is and also being handsome on top of it. And that any woman would want him. So when he is rejected by Shin GeumHee (Kim SeJeong), he is surprised and even asks her for the reason. Because he clearly saw no fault in himself. Despite being a successful CEO, he falls head over heels for Shin HaRi and her eyes only for her. He buys her favorite food stall only for her to eat on the beach and even rents an entire amusement park for her. What is better than a man who can cook? Kang TaeMoo breaks mysoginist viewes by cooking especially for Shin HaRi. He spoils Shin HaRi with his love and affection. Like he says, the similarity between his black card and his love for her is that they have no limit.
3. Ahn MinHyuk From “Strong Woman Do BongSoon”
Playful, carefree and absolutely adorable. MinHyuk opens a new door for types of ideal K-Drama leads. Whilst many are charismatic with a cold look, MinHyuk maintains his joyful aura. He isn’t often seen in suits, but that does not take away his charm. “Strong Woman Do BongSoon” tells the story of a gifted young woman with the power of a hulk. The only condition is that she must use her strength for good will. MinHyuk witnesses BongSoon’s unmatchable strength and hires her as his bodyguard. An unusual scenario. Even so, MinHyuk takes care of her by walking her home. When BongSoon was tied up with a bomb, MinHyuk did not leave her alone. He fought with the chains on the doors, even when his hands bled, but he did not run away. MinHyuk was BongSoon’s number fan and gives the best reaction to her adorablness. And henceforth, he raises our expectations yet again.
4. Kim MinKyu From “I Am Not A Robot”
“I Am Not A Robot” tells the story of Kim MinKyu (Yoo SuengHo) who becomes allergic to human touch. So he lives in his mansion, isolated from the world. He makes a world of his own after his parents pass away. Though that does not refrain him from carrying out his duties as an authority of his father’s company. He would come to the company fully covered but would make sure to make an appearance in meetings to keep his presence alive. Kim MinKyu buys a human-like robot to eliminate his loneliness, but it turns out that the one in his house wasn’t a robot but a real life human being! JiAh’s human warmth makes him unknowingly fall for her. He takes care of her even when he believed that she was just a robot. His trust in JiAh begins to cure his illness. Whenever he was around her, no touch gave him rashes. MinKyu’s personality was not particularly gentle because he lacked human interaction, but that began to change after JiAh (Chae SooBin). His love changed him into a more joyful person. “I Am Not A Robot”‘s MinKyu showcases the most purest form of love, almost childlike. And that makes it even more idealistic. These characters have changed the concept of love for the viewers. They showcase unconditional true love. Even though they have everything in the world, a girl changes their lives forever and they are willing to do anything to make her happy. They have raised fan expectations in real life when it comes to finding the perfect soulmate, but we are not complaining!
